HER STORY

jeaN Nejadi was born in Shiraz, the cultural capitol of Iran, within a family going back to the nomadic Qashqai people.

She discovered her passion for painting at an early age in school drawing fine sketches and cartoon characters like Mickey Mouse, which catched the attention of art teachers and classmates alike. Every time she painted, she found herself in a perfect world. As the opportunity for an education in art failed to appear, she followed her second passion and studied Mathematics. A postgraduate course brought her to Cologne Germany in 2003, where she is currently based.

At one night in February 2023, in a phase of the „Dark Night of the Soul“, she started to paint anew. She never stopped since that night. Every brushstroke has transformed a piece of her soul. What was supposed to be a sort of therapy led to resurrecting the dormant ability in her, which was waiting for decades to be awaken.

Visions were given to her as a seed. DUALs is manifestation of one of her first visions and gave rise to other DUALs lines and series.

In an intense process within the next two years she then created an artistic cosmos full of iconic characters and abstract compositions, pure and unmistakable.

Unflinchingly, she stayed in her atelier, painting day and night. She felt joy in every moment of creation. It became her cocoon of personal transformation and artistic resurrection with spirited, unconventional ideas and compositions. This gave her the chance to experiment, find herself and expand while protected from judgement and disbelief of the outer world.

Her soul shines through her art inciting joy and happiness. Iconic figures with healing and mind-transforming impact. They will make people smile and inflame their souls and hearts all over the world. She lives through them, breathes through them and embodies them through and through. These characteristics can also be found in her sculptures.

Her abstract compositions entail patterns and the playful use of geometric figures. They are spontaneous, intuitive creations of her imagination, seemingly naive and child-like expressions reduced to the essential and sometimes bringing to mind the colorful motifs of Gabbeh carpet art of the Qashqai tribe. The magic mystic world of her ancestors is deeply rooted in her and interwoven within her artistic DNA.

Two opposite principles meet in the works of the mathematician turned artist: her sense for logic and order derived from the field of numbers and her awoken talent, creativity and chaos. Inner change was initiation for the melting of these supposedly incompatible worlds and brings with it her intense artistic style.

She engaged early on in dancing, singing, acting as well as writing her own theatre plays and actively plays the Persian drum Tombak.

The values of her people and living in various regions of Iran with different cultures and languages have shaped her view of the world and brought about in her the wish for peace for all people and nations. The universal love for human family and nature and the understanding for a peaceful togetherness became part of her being.

In the face of revolution, war and natural desasters she engaged for the Iranian Red Cross to help vicims in need and the protection of the environment and animals since her youth. Also she gave lessons to children from disadvantaged families. In that time Mountain climbing as painting was a tool to cope with the world she lived in. She continues her voluntary work to this day.

Her journey of self-discovery goes on in an active form of expressing her self through art in an expanding universe of shapes and colors.
